  • Somewhat disappointing

I was anxiously awaiting this release, and I have all of Bebel's albums. When I learned it was ready I decided to listen to the tracks before purchasing. I have decided not to purchase this album, despite owning all her other tracks. For me, her talent lies in new age bossa, versus this attempt at recreating an "old school" bossa style. Its not that the songs are inherently bad, in fact some are quite catchy. I've debated about it since it was released and find that at heart, this album just isn't what I expect from her. I do, however, hope there is a remix album that may rekindle some interest here.
  • Another great album

My favorite track of the album is Port Antonio. I love the Stevie Wonder cover of the Real Thing. I saw her at the Hollywood Bowl singing Chica Chica Boom Chic and Bim Bom, just classic Brazil. This album is more romantic than her previous efforts and it's a welcome change. In short, if you are a fan of Bossanova and bebel than it's a must buy.
  • Nice

Bebel has a really beautiful voice. I am more of a fan of the earlier stuff but commendable effort nontheless. :)
  • record industry/itunes don

Bebel's last 3 albums were gems, this one is lacking in the production department like the previous reviewer stated (her take on Bob Marley sounds like a cloudy/rainy day in San Francisco). Alas, her company decides to give itunes the bonus track as well, punishing those of us who wish for better sound found on actual cd's instead of these horrid mp3's that make the hi-hats sound like a bubble instead of the crisp, staccato hits like they should.

Bebel is in great form and her band on this album is tight. Original love songs, great dance music, her father's classics AND covering Bob Marley's classic "Sun is shining" -- her voice is seductive, sweet and strong. This is her best work yet. Buy the album and if you can see her while on tour, she is even better in person.
  • not the same bebel

First of all let me say i love bebels voice. The production of this album is lacking and comes off sounding very generic. I have always praised her for putting a sonic twist on bossa nova. However, this album sounds like the rest of her counterparts, boring. When she had suba, her first producer on her first album, she was a gem. Since his death, she unfortunatly has fallen off track..
  • Always refreshing to hear Bebel's voice

I have yet to find a time when Bebel Gilberto's music didn't relax and put my mind at ease. I don't recall when I discovered her voice, however from that point on she has become a foundation within my music collection. Listening to her mother and father as a kid certainly allowed for credibility, yet she is gifted beyond comparisson. I simply sampled the first song and instantly downloaded the entire album. This was a pleasant surprise for I was not expecting a new release from her while browsing the iTunes library. Can't wait to share her album with my wife who has since become a fan for Bebel has proved to be that easy listening that the entire family can enjoy while on a road trip. If you haven't heard a 8 year-old get into her music then I highly suggest you try it - for it certainly rivals the lyrics of those played on pop radio. Hope you enjoy this album as much as I intend to. Varietai -
